Bethel Prayer House is led by Pam Chessell and is based at her home in Sway, near Lymington.

Prayer House Aims

Bethel Prayer House started in January 2003 with the vision and aim of becoming a “house of prayer for all nations” that will be used by God for his glory and for the extension of his kingdom. Our desire is to worship Jesus, the King, in his majesty and holiness, to keep him at the centre of all we plan and do, and to remain open and flexible to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Our vision is for Bethel to be a place where people, like Jacob, experience the manifest presence of God, and a place where the Holy Spirit is released, like rivers of living water, to bring healing, renewal, restoration and refreshment.

Bethel is open for worship and intercession on a regular basis with a particular focus on prayer for revival in the New Forest area, the United Kingdom, and the nations. Bethel is also available by arrangement for people to come for retreat, and accommodation can be provided overnight or for a few days as required. We aim to maintain and develop links with local churches in the New Forest area and with other Prayer Houses locally, nationally and internationally.

Prayer Programme

For various reasons the Prayer Programme at Bethel has changed; nevertheless, it is still a place of worship and prayer, its roots going deep and recognized in heavenly realms.

Pam Chessell

Pam was widowed in 1991 and has a daughter and two sons, all married, and six grandchildren. She became a Christian at an early age and has a calling to prayer and intercession. She has been actively involved in leading prayer groups for around 35 years and has a passion for revival. For a number of years Pam was a carer for her father who passed away in 2001 releasing her to fulfil her vision of establishing a prayer house in the New Forest area. Pam is part of the leadership team of Wellspring New Forest – a church based in The New Forest.

Pam did a discipleship and ministry course at Kingdom Faith Bible College in 1996 and has been on various outreach, ministry and prayer teams over the years. She has been a Lydia Prayer Co-ordinator for a number of years and has links with prayer houses in Europe and with the World Prayer Centre in Birmingham. She also co-ordinates the New Forest Prayer Canopy, set up in conjunction with LEAF (the Local Evangelical Alliance in the Forest) to develop a network of 24/7 prayer for the New Forest area.

Defining scriptures for the Prayer House

Then Jacob woke up and said, "Surely the LORD is in this place, and I wasn't even aware of it." He was afraid and said, "What an awesome place this is! It is none other than the house of God - the gateway of heaven!"... He named the place Bethel - "house of God".
Genesis 28:16-19 (NLT)

Even the wilderness will rejoice in those days. The desert will blossom with flowers. Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers and singing and joy! The deserts will become as green as the mountains of Lebanon, as lovely as Mount Carmel's pastures and the plain of Sharon. There the LORD will display his glory, the splendour of our God. With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees. Say to those who are afraid, "Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies, He is coming to save you."
Isaiah 35:1-4 (NLT)

But those who wait for the Lord (who expect, look for, and hope in Him) Shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings And mount up (close to God) as eagles (mount up to the sun); they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.
Isaiah 40:3 (Amp)

If you believe in me, come and drink! For the scriptures declare that rivers of living water will flow out from within.
John 7:38 (NLT)

If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin,and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

Unto you that fear My name shall the Son of righteousness arise with healing in His wings.
Malachi 4:2
